NOLA - SCHOOL FACILITIES MASTER PLAN FOR ORLEANS PARISH

The Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) operated the majority of the city’s public schools before 2005. OPSB served approximately 65,000 students pre-Katrina.

As a result of legislation passed by the state in November 2005, 102 of the city’s public schools were transferred to the Recovery School District (RSD), which is operated by the Louisiana Department of Education. Prior to Katrina five public schools in New Orleans had been transferred to the RSD.

The OPSB and RSD are working together on the School Facilities Master Plan.
